GRAPHIC SKETCHES

TIME

This was a small project assignment that asked us to express a theme of time being encapsulated in a moment and expressed from art.

I started researching time capsules and art history could be expressed in physical sculpture, I started drawing and sketching ideas, I wanted to show case piece of artwork that represented a timeline showing the contrast between the old and the new from the 20th century to the 21st-century, I was looking at really old maps initially where I found inspiration to create something that would envelope time as if it was captured within art itself in a way that captured an age and feel of authenticity with applying old rustic worn out textures and that represented time and looked aged and find a way to make the piece interactive that allowed the viewers to pick up pieces of the artwork and find information, images and elements of the 20th and 21st century including a timeline of art movements.

STAR

This project assignment was to explore star signs and design something that would demonstrate the different signs and express their individualism with either a physical interactive design display using which ever media you wish.

I chose to design spherical cards, I chose 4 star signs that related to my own star sign, creating a colour pallet theme for each card, showing information about the star signs, a connection to the stars and how they all compliment one another, I did not design all the star signs as there was a time restriction and this was a small one day project.

CANARY WHARF LEEDS PROJECT

This project was given to me to experiment with a real client and practise drawing up a flyer/poster for Canary Wharf in Leeds which is creative shopping centre retail area of the city where artists from all over Leeds West Yorkshire display their art work and creations, it’s a very popular place to go at the weekends as it bursts to life with a bustling market where designers, makers and importers offer their original hand-created wares at surprisingly affordable prices.

This is information and floor plan of Canary Wharf which was given as part of the brief so that I could understand the client and the whole business.

RANDOM ART, DRAWINGS AND DOODLES

ABSCRACT ART PIECE

This is a piece that I'm currently working on at home; it's a personal piece of artwork. I've only just completed most of the drawing, and the next date will be the painting which will be done in an abstract style with a very bright, colourful pallet.

The painting expresses how all life forms, animals and human beings are connected. The idea of this drawing was to connect every element of each life form within an environment and include architecture.

I really wanted the viewer looking at my painting when this is complete to stop and think and question. I want people to take their time to figure out what my Art is about and create the ability to naturally ask questions hear their opinion on what they see.

I hope to achieve a challenging and thought-provoking piece when the painting is complete in this abstract style that I love. I hope it makes people observe for a more extended period, allowing the viewer to study my artwork and work out what is going on. Standing back to work out what my Art is would be successful Art for me. I want to make this piece an illusion, similar to the style of Surrealism Art with cubism and abstract methods.

The painting will hopefully play with your mind so that you don't see the lifeforms within all of the colours immediately. You'll be able to see the brightly painted shapes initially. Then as you analyse with your mind and absorb the painting, the forms take you on a journey and the painting.

My finished piece will take you on a journey from shape to shape as your eyes flow from the lines that connect the forms and the colours. You gradually see the animals in the painting and the people.

I don't like the idea of painting something that shows immediately what it is like! Such as, for instance, a painting of a bowl of fruit! For me, that is not interesting enough for my complex mind.

I think that Art should be questionable! It should conjure a creative spark that inspires an individual's mind and creativity to a point where even their creative mind has been questioned! Questioning and critically analysing what it is that they see!

That's when the painting becomes a successful piece for me personally because the individual examining my Art has an entirely different opinion to the next person viewing the work and the next person. That's when Art becomes very powerful.

I hope to complete this piece within the next couple of months.

LOGO DESIGN

COMPANY - SUMMIT

Small project trying out a new logo design for an outdoor rock climbing clothing company. An ongoing project, I expect top complete shortly.

I created the two moving animated videos below using a software with pre-made templates called CANVA, I have not created these from scratch but I found the online software easy to use, I just wanted to create something that I aspire to create from scratch as a graphic designer, I understand how complex it is to create moving animated images and text, I am currently working on my animation skills little by little teaching my self in my own personal time learning the techniques that my tutor is teaching me I'm watching online YouTube videos to help increase my knowledge and skill further, I feel as a designer it is very important to always aspire to improve and challenge yourself especially with the things that are difficult, and learning new skills requires a lot of patience and commitment.
